Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Palma de Mallorca or shortly Palma is the capital of the island Mallorca and the capital of the Spanish group of islands, the Balearic.  In 2006 the city counted more than 375000 inhabitants.

Palma de Mallorca is famous for the La Seu cathedral from the 13th century and considered one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Spain, and the big marina.  King Juan Carlos I owns a castle here watching over the city and the marina.  The Spanish football/soccer clubs RCD Mallorca and Club Deportivo Atlético Baleares play their games in Palma de Mallorca. Eight km to the east is the airport Palma de Mallorca.

In the hart of the shopping area of Palma lies the Plaza Mayor. This is a scaled copy of the Plaza Mayor in Madrid. On the Plaza Mayor you can taste the Spanish atmosphere.  The Plaza Mayor is surrounded by cosy terraces and a lot of street artists are performing there.
